To Be Liked or To Be Respected?

Determining whether respect is more beneficial than liked may be hard to understand, but you have to realize that being respected is more important than being liked. Respect is also easier to obtain. You only have to hold yourself to high standards, treat people fairly, and get things done. On the other hand, likeability is great, but it doesn’t necessarily translate into sustainable benefits. We can respect people even if we disagree with them, and we can respect people we don’t even like. Respect has so many benefits.

You will agree with me that every sane human being should do things that are beneficial to them or society. Receiving respect from others is important because it helps one to feel safe and to be expressive. Respect simply means that you accept somebody for who they are, even when they’re different from you or you don’t agree with them. Respect in your relationships builds feelings of trust, safety, and wellbeing.

Trust me, I have demanded and received respect 100%. Like? No one should seek to be liked because it’s of no benefits.

Here are ways to get respect:

Offer help to people around you who needs help

Ask for help when you need it

Always strive to do better

Giver respect to others

Show up, work hard and be consistent

Always do your best
